How to reach Athens
From the airport, you have two main options to reach the city. Public transport includes the metro (line 3, ~40 minutes to central Athens) and express buses (X95 to Syntagma Square or X97 directly to Ellinikon station near the venue
Alternatively, you can book a taxi through the Uber or Free Now apps (~35-45 minutes depending on traffic).
Getting around
Athens offers excellent public transportation, including an efficient metro system with three main lines:
- Line 1 (Green): Runs from Piraeus (the port) to Kifissia, passing through Monastiraki and Omonia in the city centre.
- Line 2 (Red): Runs from Anthoupoli to Elliniko, with stops at Syntagma, Acropoli (for the Acropolis), and Ellinikon station near the conference venue.
- Line 3 (Blue): Connects Athens International Airport to Piraeus, passing through Syntagma and Monastiraki.
The city also has an extensive bus and tram network, as well as a suburban railway. Taxis and ride-sharing apps like Uber and Free Now are widely available and affordable.
For exploring the historic centre, walking is often the best option – many ancient sites, museums, and restaurants are within easy walking distance of each other.
Consider purchasing a multi-day transport pass for unlimited travel on public transit during your stay.
How to reach the venue
The Ellinikon Experience Centre is located within The Ellinikon – Europe’s largest urban regeneration project, currently transforming the former Athens airport site into a world-class destination featuring parks, cultural spaces, and coastal attractions. With the full vision expected to be completed over the next decade, you’ll be among the first to experience this landmark development.
Situated in Elliniko, a coastal area in the southern suburbs of Athens along the Athens Riviera, the venue sits close to Alimos, Paleo Faliro, and Glyfada – a vibrant stretch known for its beaches, seafront restaurants, and relaxed atmosphere. It’s approximately 30 minutes from Athens’ historic city centre.
The easiest way to reach the venue is by metro – take Line 2 (Red) to Ellinikon station. From there, we’ll provide dedicated complimentary shuttle services to take you directly to the venue (approximately one kilometre away). Shuttle schedules, pickup points, and detailed directions will be announced closer to the event.
For those staying in central Athens, we recommend allowing extra time during morning rush hour.
